A poignant but less well-known story about a civil servant who unexpectedly emerges as a hero when, during the darkest days of the Second World War, he risks everything to save Jewish lives.
The leading roles are played by Henrik Dorsin, Johan Glans, Sissela Benn, Jonas Karlsson, Marianne Mörck, Jonas Malmsjö and Carl Jacobson. The film tells the story of Gösta Engzell – a previously unknown hero and down-prioritized bureaucrat at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs during the Second World War – who saved thousands of lives.
The film premieres on Netflix on February 19. During the turn of the year 2023–2024, Ystad Studios and parts of the former regimental area in Ystad were transformed into central filming locations.
